Artist’s Residencies at 2 Penrhiw
The cottage is an ideal haven and quiet creative space for writers, musicians, dancers and performers (additionally the village hall is 2 doors away, a very large wooden floored space, and is available most daytimes and many evenings throughout the year). The village and surrounding area are rich in inspiration for those who wish to spend time immersed in a working Welsh rural valley with access to forest and woodland, the river Cych valley with streams and falls, dairy farming, smallholdings and upland grazing as well as a diverse and changing cultural life.
Artists residencies at 2 Penrhiw are collaboratively supported by Stirling and partner Simon Whitehead. Additionally we have a board of advisors who will help with ideas, logistics, funding and the bigger view. These are Ceri Rhys Matthews (musician), Nikki Tomlinson (dancer and Artists’ Advisors at Arts Admin, London), Chris Ricketts (former Director of Wales Arts International, now Director of the Sherman Theatre Cardiff), Ceri Jones (most recently involved in coordinating Wales’ cultural contribution to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Washington DC).
We at 2 Penrhiw will be responsible for supporting your residency and promoting your work whilst in Abercych. For upcoming opportunities see residency news items.
